MONTGOMERY, Alabama – Former candidate Dale Peterson today endorsed Republican John McMillan for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. Peterson ran a strong third in the Alabama GOP primary, which McMillan led.
Peterson’s Youtube video created an internet sensation during the primary election season, leading to appearances for Peterson on Fox News Channel and to some political observers hailing it as one of the best political ads ever.
“John McMillan is, without question, the best choice to be our next Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries,” Peterson said. “John is a man of strong moral conviction. Like me, he is not beholden to special interests, and John McMillan will fight the political insiders who have frustrated the will of Alabama’s people. He has the right experience, he has the right values and he has the right ideas. And I have come to regard John as a good friend during the election campaign.”
In the June 1st Primary, McMillan received 36.4% and finished first. Peterson received 28.5% and finished third.
“When campaigning throughout Alabama, one gets to know and meet some nice people. I am proud to have the support of Dale and Kathy in the upcoming runoff,” McMillan said. “I hope that Dale’s supporters know that I share Dale’s passion for giving a voice to the growing conservative grass-roots movement in Alabama. I have a proven record of fighting for those same values.”
The Republican Primary Runoff will be held on July 13, 2010.
