MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) is pleased to announce its endorsement of John McMillan, (R-Montgomery), in the race for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. McMillan attended Rhodes College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1974 and re-elected in 1978. During his time in the House, McMillan was twice awarded Alabama Wildlife Federation’s Legislative Conservationist of the Year. Governor Fob James appointed him commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In 1983 McMillan had the opportunity to work for the Alabama Forestry Association and in 1986 was selected to serve as the executive vice president. He held the position for 20 years. McMillan and wife Kathryn have been married for 44 years. They have two sons, Murphy and William, and two grandsons, El and John. He is currently serving on the University of South Alabama Foundation, the Governors Commission on Efficiency, Consolidation and Funding and is serving his second term on the State Personnel Board. “John McMillan will make a great Alabama Agriculture Commissioner,” said Mark Moody, Alabama REALTOR® Political Action Committee chair. “He has spent his life in service to his family, his community, and to the agriculture industry in Alabama.” The Alabama Association of REALTORS® is the trade association for real estate professionals in Alabama, who work in the residential, commercial, property management, resort and appraisal markets.
