(BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA) - John McMillan today filed papers with the Alabama Republican Party to seek the position of Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries in the June 1st Primary election.

“Running for this office is a natural fit for me. I have been involved in agriculture all of my life, and I would like to put my experience to work for the people of Alabama. I consider seeking public office a noble endeavor and one I will take seriously and energetically,” Mr. McMillan said upon qualifying at the Republican state headquarters in Birmingham this morning.

Earlier this month, John McMillan received the endorsement of ForestPAC, the political action committee of the Alabama Forestry Association. The Forestry Association, a non-profit trade association representing the forestry community in Alabama, was founded in 1949.

John McMillan and his wife Kathryn have two sons and two grandchildren. John is a native of Stockton in Baldwin County.
